Rowing
Established in 2007, the Bishop’s College Rowing Crew has been an integral part of our school’s sports program. The team is composed of students from Grade 6 to 14 who are united by their shared passion for rowing and a strong commitment to developing skill and discipline. Guided by a team of accomplished and experienced coaches our oarswomen are continuously challenged to reach their full potential, while learning the true value of the sport. The team has shown remarkable progress over the years, securing several titles at many regattas. Each achievement reflects on the dedication, teamwork and perseverance of each member of our rowing family.
Some of the past achievements of our team,
- Ashenka Sumanapala was selected to represent Sri Lanka in the Asian Indoor Rowing Championship held in Penang, Malaysia where she placed 1st in the U19 mixed 500m relay and 2nd in the U19 Women’s 2km pair. She was also chosen to represent the Colombo Rowing Club at the Madras – Colombo encounter where they dominated with a clean sweep.
- Ashenka Sumanapala and Dhanya Aluwihare were placed 2nd in their respective categories at the Indoor Rowing Nationals Regatta.
- At the Junior Rowing Nationals Regatta the U16 Girls four secured a gold.

- At the South-West Monsoon Regatta Amanthi Jayasinghe was placed 1st in the U16 girls scull event while the “four” who went up against the University of Colombo was awarded the ‘Yaso Sirimanne Trophy’.
