Netball
Netball is one of the oldest women’s sports in Sri Lanka and has been part of Bishop’s College since the early decades of the 20th century, making it a core part of the school’s sporting tradition and legacy.
Performed in the form of a team sport, Netball inevitably encourages teamwork, responsibility and highlights the importance of discipline within a team.
The sport is open to students from Grade 6 and upwards, consisting of nearly 50 students, training for the age groups of U13, U15, U17 & U19.
Each year, the team participates in the Zonal Netball tournament and other major inter-school competitions, such as Western province Tournament, Milo Netball Tournament and the All Island Eva tournament.
Some of the past achievements of our team,
- For the first time in the history of Bishop’s College Netball, the team placed 3rd in the Milo Netball Tournament, qualifying for the All-Island National Inter-Schools Tournament.
The Bishop’s College Netball team was given the opportunity of taking part in the Netball tournament hosted by the Nakhon Nayok Witthayakhom school in Thailand where the U15 team placed 2nd overall and the U18 team placed 3rd.
Netball at Bishop’s College is more than just a sport, it’s a sisterhood built on trust and teamwork. New students with a passion for sports are warmly encouraged to join and experience the excitement, and pride that come with wearing the Bishop’s College Netball kit.
