Comparative Religious Studies
The introduction of a new subject, ‘Comparative Religious Studies’, into the School curriculum
Bishop’s College, a multiethnic and multicultural institution, accepts students from all races and religions.
Recognizing the need for young children to learn about, understand, and respect their own beliefs as well as those of others, a subject named Comparative Religious Studies was introduced in 2024.
Teachers from every religious group worked together to compile an 8-lesson textbook, including 2 lessons from each religion, which was handed over to all students.
One period per month, taken from the usual religion periods, was allocated for this subject and taught by the respective religion teacher. Initially printed in English, the textbook will later be translated into Sinhala and Tamil.
A student competition was also held to design the digital cover page.
