Since its inception in 1949, the Senior Science and Math Society of Bishop’s College has been a dynamic group of students who share a passion for exploring the wonders of the natural world and unravelling the mysteries of numbers. We believe that Science and Mathematics are not just subjects to be studied in classrooms but vibrant disciplines that shape our understanding of the world around us.

Through our society, we aim to foster love for Science and Mathematics among our fellow students and provide a platform for intellectual growth, experimentation and innovation. Notable Achievements (2021-now) :

2021 :
Team Mighty Chondria comprising Ulindu Fernando, Kiyara Fernando, Shenali Fernando and Manuthi Weerasinghe participated in the “Young Environmentalists’ Challenge” organised by Royal Institute Colombo together with Deakin University Australia and emerged champions in the International Round.

2022 :
Team Fission Impossible comprising Amashki Samarasinghe, Visha Peiris, Mehara Jayasinghe and Aniqah Irshad Cassim participated in the “Young Environmentalists’ Challenge” organised by Royal Institute Colombo together with Deakin University Australia and emerged champions in the International Round.

Sci – Excel ‘ 22 : In the All Island Research competition organised by Royal College, Colombo, the team comprising Umaiyall Thuraichelvan, Vihara Nanayakkara, Yenuli Jayasekara, Tharanya Thatparan and Abilasha Umashanger emerged 4th Overall.

2023 :
Team Synergy comprising Umaiyall Thuraichelvan, Jameela Thabreez, Kithmi Marambe and Tharanya Thatparan participated in the “Young Environmentalists’ Challenge” organised by Royal Institute Colombo together with Deakin University Australia and emerged 1st runners up in the National Round.

Upcoming Events :

Annual Science and Math Day
– The Annual Science and Math Day is a day dedicated to exploring the wonders of
science and various scientific disciplines, which is to be held in August. It is an opportunity to
ignite curiosity, inspire creativity, and foster a love for scientific inquiry among our society
within schools.

Solar Observation Camp
– Set amidst the natural beauty of our surroundings, this camp offers a unique chance to
observe and study the Sun in a safe and controlled environment. It is also an event that
guides us to uncover the mysteries of our solar system and deepen our understanding of the
Sun’s captivating phenomena.

Big Bang ‘23
– Held for the students of Grades 9,10 and 11, Big Bang ‘23 is a series of Mathematical
Quizzes and Games. The students will be divided into groups according to their houses, in
which they will actively compete for the Top 03 places.
