Water Polo

Water Polo is one of the most dynamic and fast paced sports at Bishop’s College. It combines athleticism, strategy, and teamwork.

Water Polo at Bishop’s College focuses on developing physical strength, agility, and mental resilience. Athletes learn the importance of unity in the pool, decision making under pressure, and mutual respect which translates beyond the sport into everyday life.

Students from grade 4 and upwards are free to join, with age categories including U11, U13, U15 and U19.

Some of the past achievements of our team,

  • 2024 began with the team emerging overall champions at the National League Water Polo Championships 2024 after 11 years.
  • At the Sri Lanka Schools Water Polo Championships, the U19 team emerged runners up, while the U16 team emerged champions.
  • Towards the end of the year, at the National and Junior-National Water Polo Championships, Bishop’s College emerged 2nd runners up at the Nationals Championships and overall runners up at the Junior Nationals Championships.

Additionally, Imaaya Perera, Aashi Perera, Jayendri Perera, Sinali Ratnayake, Miheli Ratnayake, Selina Silva and Hayah Maharoof were selected to be apart of the National Pool and represent Sri Lanka in various International Tournaments.

Water Polo at Bishop’s College is more than just a sport, it’s a legacy that brings people together. While the team continues to reach greater heights, new players are called to take part and plunge into action. We hope to continue this exciting journey while making Bishop’s College proud.
