Comparative Religious Studies

Bishop’s College is a multiethnic, multicultural institution and accepts students from all races and religions. Young children need to learn about, understand and respect their own beliefs as well as those of others. To achieve this goal, a subject named ‘Comparative Religious Studies’ will be introduced in the next academic year starting in 2024. For this, teachers from every religious group have been put together as a team to work and compile a 8 lesson textbook including 2 lessons from each religion that would be handed over to all students. 1 period per month taken from the usual religion periods will be made use of for this lesson and this will be taught by the respective religion teacher. As of right now, the book will be printed in English Language and in the coming years translated to both Sinhala and Tamil. A competition was held amongst the students to create a digital cover page for the textbook.
