Student Christian Movement – Junior
St. Luke 06: 31
“Do to others as you would have them do to you.”
History of the Movement
The junior SCM was established in the year 2006 by Ms. Chandrika Perera with the help of Rt. Rev Father Dushantha Rodrigo. The Teacher-in-Charge of the SCM saw great potential in the junior students of grades 6, 7 and 8. The youngsters of the middle school demonstrated qualities of leadership, and worked with a lot of enthusiasm and commitment. They always sought guidance and advice from the teachers and parents which set a huge example even to the seniors. They also realised that the juniors needed training and an experience in organising missionary activities as they have to take on leadership roles in the future. This was the beginning of the Junior SCM, to mold the students to take more responsibilities in spreading the word of God through various ways.
The main motive of the Junior SCM is to enhance the training and experience of juniors in order to organise missionary activities and spread the word of God among the society. We also strive to develop spiritually among junior students.
During this Term, we hope to have our usual meditation on Wednesdays during the interval and a Special Programme every month. We also intend to have a JSCM day this year. We hope this Term would be an eventful one for all of us.
May God bless you All!
