Mediation Society

Mediation is a structured, interactive process where an impartial third party assists disputing parties in resolving conflict through the use of specialised communication and negotiation techniques. Throughout the years the Mediation Circle on Bishop’s College has successfully embodied the school motto ‘Non Sibi sed Omnibus’ by putting the needs of others before our own.

The Mediation Circle of Bishop’s College was formed in 2005, making it the longest running mediation programme among all Sri Lankan schools. Since then our members have been actively involved in the art of conflict resolution, hosting workshops and programmes annually to improve the art of mediation among Bishopians.

We have also organized various assemblies to address the problematic issues such as peer pressure and maintaining good parent-child relationships.

Members of the mediation circle have also participated in workshops conducted by the YMCA and International Network for Peace.

Upcoming events

The Mediation Workshop, to recruit new mediators will be held in the upcoming month. This 3 day program is structured to aid our students to handle conflict and aid others to do the same.
